Indiana has 34,862 registered charities on the current register extract, of which 9,291 reported income in their latest return. Together they reported $55.74bn of income. The median charity took in $179k, while the largest tenth reported $3.2m or more, so a typical donation goes to a far smaller organisation than the household names at the top of this list.

Income is concentrated: the ten largest charities account for 40% of the total. Across the whole group, 475 charities have a note from the register, such as overdue accounts or three years of spending above income, and those notes are shown on each charity's page.
