United States has 173,898 registered charities working on poverty relief on the current register extract, of which 62,758 reported income in their latest return. Together they reported $205.30bn of income. The median charity took in $219k, while the largest tenth reported $4.7m or more, so a typical donation goes to a far smaller organisation than the household names at the top of this list.

Income is concentrated: the ten largest charities working on poverty relief account for 8.1% of the total. Across the whole group, 2,898 charities have a note from the register, such as overdue accounts or three years of spending above income, and those notes are shown on each charity's page.
