United States has 29,016 registered charities working on housing and shelter on the current register extract, of which 15,864 reported income in their latest return. Together they reported $48.52bn of income. The median charity took in $360k, while the largest tenth reported $4.5m or more, so a typical donation goes to a far smaller organisation than the household names at the top of this list.
