United States has 385,217 registered charities working on other charitable purposes on the current register extract, of which 72,936 reported income in their latest return. Together they reported $326.11bn of income. The median charity took in $178k, while the largest tenth reported $3.8m or more, so a typical donation goes to a far smaller organisation than the household names at the top of this list.

Income is concentrated: the ten largest charities working on other charitable purposes account for 20% of the total. Across the whole group, 4,430 charities have a note from the register, such as overdue accounts or three years of spending above income, and those notes are shown on each charity's page.
