Overview

England and Wales has 15,071 registered charities working on other charitable purposes on the current register extract, of which 13,286 reported income in their latest return. Together they reported £12.59bn of income. The median charity took in £29k, while the largest tenth reported £633k or more, so a typical donation goes to a far smaller organisation than the household names at the top of this list.

Income is concentrated: the ten largest charities working on other charitable purposes account for 31% of the total. Across the whole group, 3,321 charities have a note from the register, such as overdue accounts or three years of spending above income, and those notes are shown on each charity's page.

9,187 of the charities with reported income (69%) took in under £100k a year. Pages for the 9,127 charities with several years of accounts include their full income history, a comparison with similar-sized peers and a breakdown of where the money comes from.
