In the charity's own words

The Trust will overhaul and operate the locomotive (71000 Duke of Gloucester) as closely as possible to its original condition, but accounting for modern demands. The overhaul of the locomotive was concluded in 2025 and the locomotive successfully ran on the mainline in the last quarter of the year. We now look forward to many more years of running our locomotive for everyone to see.
